Doghouse Roses
How’ve you been (all this time)?
Basement/Border

Scots duo Doghouse Roses have a name that makes me associate to the 80-century hard rock scene, but turns out instead to mix subtle folkpop with americana. On this debut album takes the early folk rock best ingredients, peeling of all unnecessary imposition and crosses Fairport Convention with Simon & Garfunkel.
Singer Iona Macdonald has a voice that truly seize on one and with Paul Taskers highly skilled guitar playing in the back so she does everything she can with this låtmaterialet. And some are beautiful, but perhaps sometimes a little too standardized. A big plus, however, for the earthy and beautiful arrangements. Best track: Pilgrims tale ***
